SAFETY POLICY


Benir Holdings and the employees are committed to uphold the mine HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT NO. 29 0F 1996 AND REGULATIONS as well as OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT and REGULATIONS (85 OF 1993) by committing to develop, implement and maintain management systems to ensure:

  • Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (85 of 1993) and the Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations 29 of 1996.

  • Clear objectives, targets and yearly safety improvement plans to continuously improve our safety performance.

  • That we make provision for adequate resources to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees and contractors as well as to supply quality products and services to comply with and/or exceed client’s expectations and ensure customer satisfaction through superior client interaction.

  • That our safety policy is communicated and available to all employees and contractors.

  • That all our employees and contractors understand that safety is everyone’s responsibility.

  • Management review our safety programs annually and that the safety improvement plan is done annually.

  • All accidents/incidents get reported and properly investigated and that learnings get communicated to all employees and contractors.

  • A no tolerance attitude when it comes to breaking safety rules and regulations.

  • That all employees understand Section 22 and 23 in MHSA and that they do have the authority to enforce it and to refuse to work in unsafe conditions

  • Our employees and contractors conduct Risk assessments, identify hazards and put controls in place to minimize the risks in the workplace.

  • Management involvement in inspections, supervising and safety improvement.

  • Management set the example in safety and review all risk assessments and communicate safety related topics and ensure they take responsibility for a safe working environment.

Benir Holdings management team, employees and contractors will be accountable for the environmental management of all the activities that they can control and those they can influence. Our line managers and supervisors will lead in environmental management while recognizing that environmental management is the responsibility of all people working at/with Benir Holdings. This will be done by:

  • Leaders who will make sure that we comply with all applicable environmental legislation.

  • The development, implementation and maintenance of environmental policies, objectives, targets, programs and procedures in line with ISO14001:2004;

  • That we make provision for adequate resources and the training, education, consultation and auditing to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.

  • Our commitment to communication towards our employees, contractors, suppliers and other role players to encourage responsible acts in our environment.

  • That all our employees and contractors understand that caring for our environment is everyone’s responsibility.

  • We will conserve our resources by effective use of energy and water.

  • We will minimize waste and reduce pollution in activities that we could control.

  • Ensuring that our employees and contractors are trained in spillage procedures.

  • All accidents/incidents in our environment get reported and properly investigated and that learnings get communicated to all employees and contractors.

  • A no tolerance attitude when it comes to wasting our natural resources.

  • Putting controls in place to prevent spillages and by being proactive instead of reactive.

  • Our employees and contractors conduct Risk assessments, identify hazards and put controls in place to minimize the risks in the workplace.

  • We will develop a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Management involvement in inspections, supervising and making sure all controls are in place to prevent damage to our environment.

  • Benir Holdings will set the example in saving our natural resources by suggestion better use/saving of resources to all the role players in our business.

OUR NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES

  • NO WORK WILL BE DONE BY UNAUTHORISED EMPLOYEES.

  • WE WILL TAKE CARE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT

  • ALL ENERGY SOURCES WILL BE LOCKED OUT AND TESTED FOR ENERGY BEFORE ANY WORK START.

  • WE WILL COMPLY BY ALL LEGISLATION AS PER MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT NO. 29 0F 1996 AND REGULATIONS AS WELL AS OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT AND REGULATIONS (85 OF 1993)

  • WE WILL COMPLY WITH ALL CLIENT RULES AND REGULATIONS WHEN WORKING ON THEIR PREMISES.

  • SAFETY WILL BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PRODUCTION

  • NO WORK WILL BE DONE WITHOUT THE NECCASSARY PERMITS AND RISK ASSESSMENTS.

  • WE WILL COMPLY WITH ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS AS SET OUT BY SOUTH AFRICAN GOVERNMENT.

  • WE WILL CARE FOR EACH OTHER AND ENSURE THAT WORK WILL GET DONE SAFELY.

  • WE WILL REPORT ALL INCIDENTS/ACIDENTS.

  • WE WILL STOP ALL UNSAFE WORK AND THEREFORE RETURN SAFELY TO OUR FAMILY AND LOVE ONES.
